Julber had quite an unfortunate stay in the hospital, but now he is back home with the Styrons. While he was under observation, we were not able to visit him due to a certain hospital policy, and Lucy could only make it to check on him during visiting hours while she was not in school. The night before Lucy took him home, the doctors gave him quite a scare. They saw the growths on his joints and decided, without guardian permission, that they were going to investigate by operating. They told him that the next day he was going in for surgery, and since he didn't see anyone that night, he could barely sleep for fear of being operated on once again. When Lucy went to see him the next day, she was shocked to find him not in his room; he was getting ready for the operation. She immediately talked to the doctors and took him home.
Since he has been home, however, he has been doing very well! He is healed of pneumonia and is back in school. Just a couple of weeks ago, he brought home a report card to be proud of! It indicated that yes, he is struggling, but that there are areas in which he is doing very well! We were very proud of him and are happy to see him continuing to enjoy his time in school.
We are still in prayer for Julber's future. It looks as though there might be an opportunity to take Julber to a Samaritan's Purse hospital in the coming months. We are also praying for direction for Julber and us in what path to take concerning his education. We would really like for him to begin to learn a trade or find out where his passions and talents lie, in order to be happy and self-sufficient when he comes of age, socially and financially. There is still much room for growth in his relationships with others. We are praying for him to be able to open up to us even more and begin to express opinions and thoughts and know his value as a person made in the image of God, and loved by Him.
